Disinfection barracks

The photo shows the disinfection facility at the back end of the camp road. Here the SS had the clothes and blankets used by the prisoners disinfected so as to prevent the outbreak of epidemics; however, due to the overcrowding of the camp, several typhus epidemics broke out which took the lives of many weakened prisoners.

In 1943 the SS had a special barrack built next to it, the so-called camp bordello, in which women from the Ravensbrück concentration camp were forced into prostitution.
