Jacksonville Museum of
Military History
announces...
The
First Phase of Operation Aircraft is Complete!!!
We
don't know WHEN and we don't know exactly HOW...so
what DO we know??? What we DO know
is the Jacksonville Museum of Military History
has been approved and WILL receive an
F-105 Thunderchief for a static display!!! The
F-105 will be on permanent loan from the U.S. Air
Force Museum at Wright Patterson in Dayton Ohio.
Currently, the 1963 aircraft is located at Camp
Robinson in N.L.R.
The
F-105 affectionately called the Thud
flew 75% of the air strikes against North Vietnam
during the first four years of the Vietnam War.
The fighter-bomber is 67 feet long, has wingspan
34 feet 11inches and a height of 20 feet & 2
inches. At full speed the Thud could
achieve 1,373mph or mach 2.1.
The
moving of the aircraft is a work in progress. We
will provide more details as they become
available.
