War Stories Lecture Series

African Americans in the Military / Opportunities and Challenges

In honor of Black History Month, the Jacksonville Museum of Military will host a round table discussion on “African Americans in the Military / Opportunities and Challenges.” Our guest speakers will be CMSgt J.B. Moody USAF Ret and MSgt Parnell Fischer USAF Ret. Both men will talk about their military careers which includes serving on C-130 Gunships in Vietnam. Moody and Fischer will also discuss the advantages afforded to black men in the military that were not available in civilian life and they will also talk about the challenges that they faced.

Our moderator is Dr. Edmond Davis of Arkansas Baptist College and author of the recently published book, “Pioneering African-American Aviators: Featuring the Tuskegee Airmen of Arkansas.”

The book will be available in the museum gift shop.
